I have been doing lots of research on how both small and large businesses can take advantage of social media in their marketing strategy.
Here are my top five ways I think Twitter can be used:
1. To test new business ideas with both customers and non-customers.
2. As a monitoring device to understand what is being said about your company or brand.
3. As a customer service tool to provide feedback to customers real time through the purchase cycle or answer post sales queries.
4. To project a more of a personality to the business, to make the brand appear real
5. As an announcement tool to keep everyone informed of latest developments.
I think if a combination of the above opportunities is used, you can get the best value out of Twitter. It may well be best to start slowly and increase your use of the platform as confidence increases over time.
